New neutral pH heavy duty cleaner removes tough soils

GX 5185’  available from Pre-Treatment Solutions Ltd, Coventry ¬– is a neutral pH cleaner developed primarily for spray wash applications.  It is also suitable for use in soak tank operations with some agitation.  The product meets the strict cleanliness standards for the removal of particulate soils without the need for mechanical or ultrasonic cleaning but can also be used as a mechanical or ultrasonic cleaner.

A complex blend of surface-active ingredients, GX 5185 aggressively lifts particulate soils (including chlorinated paraffin) and, more importantly, prevents their re-deposition on the cleaned surface.  The product is said to be an ideal replacement for conventional cleaner/acid processes prior to powder coating.  Safe with all metal substrates, GX 5185 provides excellent in-process corrosion protection, is biodegradable and has low foam characteristics, which are maintained in spray washers without the need for high heat.  The product has a bland odour, has no perceptible residue, is a non-irritant and can be used in ambient temperatures up to 82 degrees C.  No rinsing is needed after its use.

GX 5185 was developed in the USA by Cincinnati based Galaxy Associates, which specialises in cleaners, sealers and other dedicated chemistries for the metal finishing, automotive, transportation and papermaking industries.  Galaxy Associates recently acquired another US-based speciality chemical company, Challenge Inc, Indianapolis, which also manufactures pretreatments and other products for metal finishing applications.  Pre-Treatment Solutions (PTS) Ltd has been appointed manufacturer and main distributor for the UK and mainland Europe of products from both Galaxy Associates and Challenge (Galaxy).  PTS is currently seeking European distributors for these products.
